The second Friday each May has been designated as “Fintastic Friday.” I’m posting a bit late, but today still is Friday, March 8, 2026, and that’s the second Friday in May of 2026. Fintastic Friday is a day to bring attention to the lives and plight of sharks, rays, skates, and sawfish. Of course, there’s a “Shark Week” on The Discovery Channel, but Fintastic Friday takes in more than just sharks. Ruth Musgrave, the founder, and director of Whale Times created Fintastic Friday, which promotes conservation efforts for shark, ray, skate, and sawfish. The photo you see on this post is a shark cruising past our table at the Coral Reef restaurant at EPCOT at Walt Disney World in 2017 and the spots of light are reflections on the aquarium glass from inside the restaurant.
