Unlike international No Diet Day from earlier this month, today’s national Eat What You Want Day is simply about consuming something delicious that’s a treat for you. The former is to raise awareness about body shaming and eating a healthy, filling diet, while the latter on each May 11 (and that’s today in 2026) is for pure enjoyment. Eat What You Want Day wants you to accept, as one internet site notes: “… giving in to their sweet tooth, carb-loading without having a marathon to run, and eating breakfast for dinner.” I’m reposting a photo I took while making “what I want:” a Reuben sandwich! I took the shot on March 16, 2025, while making a “Reuben” in our kitchen at our home here in Naples, Fla. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
