Out of habit, I step on the scale each time I visit our local Publix supermarkets (two are near our home here in Naples, Fla.), but I’ve found in recent days that between the two Publix scales and our home scale, which is supposed to be very accurate, I get three different weights – with a range difference of up to six pounds. Our home scale is the lightest; the Publix at The Strand is 2 pounds heavier; and the Publix at Naples Walk is 6 pounds heavier. Yes, I stepped on each scale wearing the same clothes, shoes and had the same objects in my pockets – wallet, keys and iPhone – for all weigh-ins. Ah, well! I guess I’ll have to estimate my true weight! Oh, the photo here was taken today (Monday, May 11, 2026) at the Publix at The Strand.
