I’m not sure what kind of woodpecker you see in this photo I took this morning (Tuesday, May 26, 2026). I’m not enough of a ornithologist to tell what species of woodpecker you see in this photo on one of our palm trees. I might be able to differentiate between a red-headed woodpecker and a Northern Flicker and I don’t believe it is a pileated woodpecker (I’ve photographed one before) or a black-rumped flameback! Thank goodness for Wiki! I just placed a shepherd’s crook-shaped pole off our patio at our home here in Naples, Fla., and moved our bird feeder to a location where we can see it better. Both spots were off our patio’s pool screens, but this spot is better.
