I’ve already posted about fireworks for the Fourth of July (Independence Day for the United States of America). However, youngsters of my generation always had a “stash” of bottle rockets, firecrackers, Roman candles and other fireworks. Our families bought them back-in-the-day in Tennessee, since Florida didn’t allow sales of real fireworks. Also, if you were the coolest, you had M-80s (each one just about a quarter stick of dynamite) and cherry bombs! Today, fireworks are more accessible in most states and here’s my adult “stash” of fireworks leftover from years ago. I’ll light off a traditional bottle rocket and pack of Black Cat firecrackers tonight on the Fourth of July as an homage to the past. The state of Florida allows such use of normally illegal fireworks on special holidays such as the Fourth of July. I took this photo today at our home here in Naples, Fla.
