Every Aug. 5 is national Dash Cam Day and today is Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026. Although I’m following the style of both the Merriam Webster Dictionary and the Associated Press Stylebook by spelling it “dashcam,” the spelling with two words – dash cam – is an acceptable, but secondary, spelling. Dashcams are important for drivers since they record what happened in case of a crash situation. Your dashcam will show (pretty much) who is to blame. They are inexpensive (the one you see here, complete with memory card) costs less than $90 and many new vehicles have cameras built into the vehicle itself. So, help yourself in case of a problem on the highway: Get a dashcam! I took this photo for Dash Cam Day in 2024 as I drove on an errand near our home here in Naples, Fla.
