Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, let’s go with the underrated but terrifically funny “Head Office” starring Judge Reinhold, Eddie Albert, Jane Seymour and Richard Masur, with nice small, supporting turns from Danny DeVito and Rick Moranis.

However, “Head Office” is truly defined by Albert and Masur, which, as portrayed, are opposite ends of the corporate spectrum. Albert is the pompous, dismissive CEO who terminates delinquent individual phone lines by spitting “diss-connect” and Masur who gives corporate “lessons” such as: “Lesson No. 79. When the tough get going, the weak get screwed.”
“Head Office” has a somewhat straightforward plot: An evil corporation headed by a lowlife (Albert) hires new college grad Reinhold because the young man’s father is a U.S. senator and the company wants him in their corner to cut U.S. jobs and move them to another country (sound more than familiar, huh?).
Well, Reinhold begins his inevitable climb up at “Head Office,” not based on competence, but with a series of wonderful vignettes from people dying (DeVito takes his own life by plunging out his office window, while Moranis keels over with a heart attack after bemoaning that his father-in-law died in a hospital after being pissed off being in a double-room!).
Ouch … and that’s basically just the beginning of “Head Office.”
Along the way in “Head Office,” Reinhold gets pulled into situations with Masur and a group that includes Seymour (who’s sleeping her way to the top along with the competence that would have independently propelled a male executive); a conference room dominated by Albert and featuring Nazi-like speakers; and Don Novello, best known as “Father Guido Sarducci” on “Saturday Night Live,” as the laid-back company chauffeur “Sal,” who won’t smoke weed with Masur and Reinhold but admits he’s getting a nice “contact high.”
OK, so there’s more to the plot, but you’ll have to explore that for yourself.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and watch “Head Office.” It is available on a a variety of subscription services and you can rent it on a other streaming platforms. You will thank me later, if you find and watch “Head Office.”
