The Collier County Sheriff’s Office agrees with comedian/actor Chris Rock about how you should “obey” laws. The CCSO has put up this sign flashing “Obey speed limit” near Pelican Marsh Elementary school in North Naples, near our home here in Southwest Florida. It reminds me of Rock’s wonderful skit about “How Not to Get Your Ass Kicked by the Police” and his direct advice to “Obey the law” in a video from his self-titled tee-vee show in 2000 (Season 5, Episode 9). So, make sure you “obey” the speed limit. You won’t get your “ass kicked,” but you can receive a citation that will cost you dollars. I took the photo of the sign today (Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026).
