National Dictionary Day each October 16 celebrates the birth of Noah Webster, who is best-remembered for publishing the first dictionary in 1806. Since today is Oct. 16, 2026, let’s all celebrate by not misspelling words in texts (which is more common than the flu) or anywhere else. Dictionaries have gone from printed tomes heavy enough to anchor a small boat to e-published guides and is common in writing apps such as Word. No matter from what platform you use a dictionary … JUST USE ONE! (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
