Each October 22 is both national Make a Dog’s Day and national Nut Day! Frankly, I’m blessed because I totally enjoy my pistachios as a snack and seeing our granddog Bucky and today is Oct. 22, 2026. Both “holidays” represent something wonderful and that’s a nice change from the chaos that appears to surround us almost daily. So, remember your dog today (and every day – the ASPCA and Subaru created the “holiday” in 2019) as enjoy a snack of your favorite nut or nuts. The photo of Bucky with a Minnie Mouse doll on his collar was taken in the fall of 2023 at our daughter’s family home in Tennessee; and I took the photo of the pistachios today at our home here in Naples, Fla.
