Christmas films ’18: The classic ‘A Christmas Story’

It’s the Christmas season and so today I’m concluding my annual daily suggestion of a movie for Christmas. Forget “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “Miracle on 34th Street” … let’s talk great Christmas films. Today, it’s “A Christmas Story.” Yes, this is the one that has evolved to be the defining Christmas film. “A Christmas Story” wasn’t a popular concept with Hollywood studios, but after Bob Clark’s success with “Porky’s,” he finally got the financial clout to make it. Now, it runs 12-straight times beginning each Christmas Eve on one network. A whole day of it! “A Christmas Story” had to grow on me, but here it is … the all-time classic and only behind “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” as the greatest Christmas movie of all time!

I’m posting all my film reviews in alphabetical order and I’ve updated links and more on many of the reviews. Below is the link back to the full review.
