It’s time to get ready to gear up for Halloween ’22! Here’s my trusty “Jason” hockey mask that I’ll be wearing on Oct. 31. I’ve worn it for nearly a decade in trying to “scare” trick-or-treaters at our home here in Naples, Fla. (without much success, I must report). Remember, the best bad guys in horror cinema wear a mask, with “Jason Voorhees” known for wearing a hockey mask, but it didn’t appear until the third film in the “Friday the 13th” franchise, and “Michael Myers” of “Halloween” fame in a mask of TV’s “Star Trek” actor William Shatner. The “Jason” mask is a reminder that “Jason” wasn’t the killer in the original film – and that note of trivia was used by legendary horror filmmaker Wes Craven at the beginning of his classic “Scream.” Oh, remember, it was “Jason’s” mother who was the killer. No spoiler alert for real horror movie fans! BTW … I got this shot of the mask on Oct. 26, 2022.
