Today’s “must” movie is “Porky’s.” Here’s an American raunchy comedy classic that transcends time or comedy. “Porky’s” is the story of a bunch of teenagers (OK, so not all the actors are teen-aged) having fun in south Florida (say Fort Lauderdale) and … well, you know. They’re the “boys from Angel Beach!”
“Porky’s” is an important film in Hollyweird history as its director, Bob Clark, had been wanted to make a holiday film, but no studio would support it. Well, “Porky’s” put Clark into the stratosphere as it was the No. 5 film of 1982 and when the studio told him to do a sequel (remember, sequels equal money), he said, let me do my film. They said, “OK.” From that, Clark brought you “A Christmas Story,” which is now a holiday classic and runs your tee-vee 24-straight hours beginning on each Christmas Eve.
Back to “Porky’s” and you get a very sexually-charged film, but without the disgusting details that so many “raunchy comedy” films have tried to duplicate in the four decades-plus years since the original. It’s despite scenes such as the girls’ shower room where one of the “guys” gets pinned to the wall by a phys-ed teacher!
So, find “Porky’s” … there’s absolutely no question: You’ll enjoy it. I guarantee it!
