Hey everybody, it’s movie time! I’m re-writing the words from the start of a Styx hit song and saying today is “movie time!” For movie time today, let’s hold our collective noses and watch “After the Sunset” with Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek. Here’s one movie that shouldn’t have been released, but you might enjoy some of its locales.
“After the Sunset” apparently tried to rip-off the heat from the remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” With “After the Sunset,” you get Brosnan as a rich guy who sets out on a major caper. He has a beautiful love interest, drives a muscle car on an island paradise’s roads and is the coolest cat around.
Unfortunately, “After the Sunset” cannot measure up to the other film, no matter how many ideas it borrowed from it. The worst sin is that the talentless Woody Harrelson has a major role in the film. As for the rest, you might just say, “Meh.”
“After the Sunset” is at its heart a caper film and this is one thing that it does OK … but you’ll have to suspend a bunch of your disbelief.
Ah well, check out “After the Sunset” … it is bad filmmaking, but you won’t need a barf bag while watching … I guarantee it!
