Thankfully, most of Southwest Florida was spared much damage from the winds, rain and storm surge from powerful and massive Hurricane Helene as it passed to our west in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday (Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024). Our neighborhood in Naples received less than 2 inches of rain and some tropical gusts, but we lost power for FIVE hours. Ah, well, better than ground zero where Helene came ashore in Florida’s Big Bend region. I got this shot of a flag stiff in the wind as I ran an errand near our home yesterday.
