Hey everybody, it’s movie time! I’m re-writing the words from the start of a Styx hit song and saying today is “movie time!” For movie time tonight, let’s watch “Panic” with the simply exceptional work of William H. Macy, the late Donald Sutherland and Neve Campbell. “Panic” is a deep, dark trip and it isn’t for everyone, but you shouldn’t miss the work of these three actors as well as support from the late John Ritter to Tracey Ullman to Barbara Bain.
“Panic” is the story of a depressed hitman (Macy), who was taught his craft by his … father (Sutherland)! He’s obviously at a crossroads in his life and he has no energy for his relationships as most have become poisoned over time and not just because he kills people to make his living.
Macy winds up going to a therapist (like all hitmen do … ha!) and he meets Campbell, whose youth and understated verve re-energizes him just about instantly. After that, he delves deeper into the “panic” of his relationships as he pursues Campbell and even gets an assignment to kill his therapist (Ritter). However, he doesn’t know if it’s his father who wants Ritter dead because he’s losing control of Macy.
You’ll need to watch “Panic” to find out more – and there’s a lot more – about Macy and his ever-declining world. You can easily find “Panic” if you’d like … and I know you’ll enjoy the work of these talented actors, but it’ll be a rough ride for you … I guarantee it!
