I’ve photographed for some time what I call the “Sad Tree” in a neighbor’s back yard. The backyard is large and the tree grew slender, but wasn’t really at home in Southwest Florida’s stormy climate. Well, after a couple of storms since late 2023 and being sawed off nearly to the ground approximately five months ago, the “Sad Tree” is on the rebound! The photo showing when the tree was the tallest was from November 2023 after a wind storm broke off branches; the photo of the stump was taken in September 2024 after Hurricane Helene wiped it out; and the last was taken yesterday (March 9, 2025). Each photo except the large one at the top is clickable and you can get a better view. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
