For a little change of pace, I thought that I’d point up that today (Saturday, July 5, 2025) is Mechanical Pencil Day! It’s a day that “encourages more people to take up the lost art of writing with pencils.” The mechanical pencil’s origins say that it was “officially” debuted in 1822, but that they date back to even earlier. I have this wonderful Montblanc mechanical pencil in my collection, but it’s been years since I had the plastic ones so popular in grade school all those many years ago. I got this shot today at our home here in Naples, Fla. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
