OK, today (March 14) is the 2026 version of the national Save a Spider Day. Let’s be honest. Would you save the spider you see in this photograph? Wow. It has an evil countenance. The spider shown is a spiny orb-weaver spider and I got this shot on our patio here at our home in Naples, Fla., on May 24, 2019. I don’t usually have a problem with spiders. After all, I had three tarantulas while I was in college. Still, the spiny orb-weaver spider does give me the creeps. In any case, try to save a spider today!
