Today (Monday, April 20, 2026) is celebrated in a few states as Patriots’ Day and is the day of the annual Boston Marathon! Patriots’ Day is honored in eight states, with four recognizing the third Monday in April (such as today’s events will happen) and four others on the Sunday before. I happened to become familiar with Patriots’ Day through the Boston Marathon and being fan of distance runner Bill Rodgers. He won the Boston Marathon four times and set a world marathon record at the time of 2:09:55 in 1975. I still have his autobiography in hardcover as shown in this photo from my desk this morning at our home here in Naples, Fla. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
