Everyone pretty much knows, but it’s always a good reminder: Check the internet if you’re having a problem with a household appliance or equipment. I found this adage to be true in recent days as our automatic garage door had been performing somewhat erratically. So, after evaluating several articles online, there were several ideas that stood out. The key: Check the sensors! At first, I discounted this idea as the wonkiness of the garage door device didn’t appear to be driven by a malfunctioning sensor. However, the garage door returned to perfect operation once the sensor was cleaned and aligned again! So, beware what you read online, but there are helpful tidbits worth your exploration. I got this shot our one of our two garage door sensors yesterday (Tuesday, April 21, 2026) at our home here in Naples, Fla.
