Ticket to the Movies: ‘The Hollywood Knights’ is light raunchy comedy that’s a total gas

Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, I’m going back 46 years to the delightful, raunchy comedy called “The Hollywood Knights,” which introduced Michelle Pfeiffer, Tony Danza and Robert Wuhl as the combustible “Newbomb Turk” to the big screen. Well, Wuhl is the ostensible star with the most screen time, while Pfeiffer and Danza have more limited and less comedic roles.

“The Hollywood Knights” is R-rated comedy “light” because it has limited profanity and just some brief nudity (if you consider a few topless shots and a young man’s bare backside as the “Knights” moon a stuck-up homeowner as “nudity”), unlike the nude scenes in comedy classics such as “National Lampoon’s Animal House” or “Porky’s” from the same era.

“The Hollywood Knights” is the story of a car club (remember those?) in Beverly Hills (California; remember that?) and their favorite drive-in called “Tubby’s” is being torn down to make way for an office building. “Tubby’s” is home of the “Big One” and there is a double entendre attached to “the Big One.” Also, the club members are “Knights” and on this auspicious night are dropping off recruits naked in the Watts neighborhood.

So, the guys are targets of a couple of bumbling cops, including the father of one of the actors in the modern tee-vee classic “The Big Bang Theory,” and the guys manage to egg them and humiliate them.

In the end, “The Hollywood Knights” have a memorable night as they extract revenge on the Beverly Hills homeowners group that’s responsible for tearing down “Tubby’s” from flatulence at a pep rally to toilet-papering a house and leaving a flaming bag of dog-doo on the doorstep.

See! Raunchy humor light.

An interesting twist: The wife of a homeowner is cheating and has a casual grope with her boyfriend at a party at her home and then sex in a car and then tries on a trampoline! Wow. She’s more of a “The Hollywood Knight” than a member in good-standing with the HOA!

So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and watch “The Hollywood Knights.” It is available on one subscription platform and can be rented via other streaming services. Without any doubt, you will thank me later when you watch “The Hollywood Knights” today!
