The parking lot between the Headquarters branch of the Collier County Public Library and the North Collier Government Center almost always puts on a car show here in North Naples, Fla. Yesterday (Monday, July 13, 2026), I spotted this classic, ticked-out 1972 Chevrolet Impala. It’s owner was showing the car to a couple of employees from the government center as I passed by after visiting the library and told the owner it is a “sweet ride.” He agreed. An internet search turned up this added detail: “(It is) customized in the popular ‘donk’ (or hi-riser) subculture style, riding high on massive, oversized aftermarket chrome wheels with ultra-low-profile tires.” PS: My father drove a 1972 Impala, but it was the coupe model and it wasn’t tricked out (just stock options).
