It has been some time (approximately two years) that I’ve posted a photo of a bloom our most-special hibiscus tree at our home here in Naples, Fla. Technically, it is tropical hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), but I call it by my late mother’s first name. I took this shot with my iPhone today (Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026). The blooms on this hibiscus tree are always special because my cousin and his wife gifted the tree to myself and our family in May 2004 at my mother’s funeral. It has been growing in this same spot for more than 22 years now.
