I have to admit that there’s absolutely no low that the voice recognition-AI working as closed captioning cannot dig for itself. I’ve posted a bunch of examples of the sheer ignorance of the voice-recognition software that brings it to you. I pretty much thought my post in June of this year would be the last because the incompetence and ignorance is so pervasive (in that one, a “candlelit dinner” became a “camel at dinner”). However, today (Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026) brought another one so egregious that I’m compelled to post it. The YouTube clip has closed captioning embedded in the video, while YouTube offers the option of its own closed captioning. So you get: “Buffy was still hot when my son called” as opposed to what was said – “Coffee was still hot when my son called.” Sigh. I took the photo off our family room tee-vee today at our home here in Naples, Fla.
