I need some stomach ‘peels’ when I see this stupidity from closed captioning

Here’s yet another example of why voice recognition is second-rate in today’s closed captioning of entertainment. A character is telling the detectives about a theft when he’s asked how the thief managed to get into the kitchen by herself. Well, he was going to take his … “peels!” No, he wasn’t describing orange peels or lemon peels … they were stomach “peels.” I can understand voice recognition or even a human effort making a mistake with a live broadcast, but there’s simply no excuse for not having properly translated the episode for a 53-year-old episode of a popular TV show. I got this shot off our big screen on March 19, 2023, while re-watching an episode of “Dragnet” (season 4, episode 14 … “Helpful Woman”).
