Today’s “must” movie is “Up the Creek.” Here’s a completely horrid flick that tried to use actors from classics such as “National Lampoon’s Animal House,” “Porky’s” and “The Hollywood Knights” and make a successful, raunchy comedy effort. It failed. Completely. Utterly. “Up the Creek” isn’t just “up the creek,” it contaminated the entire waterway.
Today, Hollywood is just reusing titles from past hits in place of any semblance of creativity and has over-saturated the superhero market just like too many F-bombs in a Martin Scorsese film. However, back in the day, idiots in Hollyweird thought stars from classics could guarantee a new hit. Wrong. Really wrong. Utterly wrong.
“Up the Creek” is a story about the worst college in the United States and a quest for just one victory in an extracurricular activity. The gang that gets put together for a river-rafting competition (river rafting? … even the idea sucks) is the worst idiots on campus and, so, that makes them the best team.
With “Up the Creek,” you get Tim “Animal House” Matheson, Stephen “Animal House” Furst, Dan “Porky’s” Monahan and Sandy “Hollywood Knights” Helberg as the team. Oh, Helberg is the father of Simon Helberg, who is “Howard Wolowitz” on the TV mega-hit “The Big Bang Theory.”
You’re not going to enjoy “Up the Creek,” but I guess you can have a little fun watching a completely horrible film … I guarantee it!
