Today, Friday, May 22, 2026, is a very, very special day for myself and my blog called “A Gator in Naples.” Why? Because May 22 is the anniversary of my initial two posts in 2014 – the first at 8:09 p.m., review of the movie “The Warriors;” and the second at 9:57 p.m., a photo of a bloom on one of our hibiscus plants! You see the photo of the hibiscus bloom on this page and I’ve since written 419 other movie reviews as well as 39 reviews of television shows and other entertainment topics. A heartfelt “thank you” to everyone who has visited my blog!
In total since May 22, 2014, I’ve posted 9,290 items on this blog including dozens of photos of everything from clouds to helicopters to contrails to our nearby public library branch to my beloved University of Florida Gators to sunrises and sunsets. I’ve even posted many about the foolish mistakes in closed captioning! I try to make my blog posts interesting from “Naples Driving Lessons” (as taught by fools) to “What’s This?” Overall, I don’t see much traffic each day (although I’ve been averaging 100 or so daily in recent weeks) and I now have a total (as of 5 a.m. today) of 204,000 page views.
Thank you to each and every person who finds their way to my blog, which I started as an exercise in both an extension of my being a journalist as well as learning the WordPress platform. I started my blog as a vehicle to learn, but wound up with a writing experience that I cherish through today and will into the future.

I’ve taken a couple of “sabbaticals” in recent years, but never longer than a few days, since I immediately begin to miss doing posts when I stop … even just for a break in routine.
I’ve posted 2,696 photos that I have taken or one of the members of our family has taken at WDW. Because we visited WDW so frequently as our children grew up, I was usually posting a daily image from the thousands taken at the parks to nearly 2020’s year of COVID. We’ve since visited and posted images from those trips, but not the daily postings from years past.
Visitors from approximately 175 countries/regions have visited my blog, including a single page view from locations such as the Northern Mariana Islands in the Pacific, Gabon in Africa and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the eastern Caribbean Sea. However, the most page views come from the United States with the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia running second, third and fourth respectively. In recent months, I’ve seen an uptick in visitors from Hong Kong in China and the Republic of Singapore in Southeast Asia.
So, again, thanks for visiting an I hope you find something interesting, informing or just something that’s fun. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
