Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, as an example of a bad film you should watch, let’s use “Code Name: The Cleaner” with Cedric the Entertainer. You might keep a barf bag handy, but this has a few moments worth watching.

Among the few watchable things in “Code Name: The Cleaner” is Niecy Nash in a small role as “Jacuzzi” (even her character’s name brings a smile). Nash brings energy and verve to “Jacuzzi” and that’s always a positive in cinema, since you’ll have to put up with Lucy Liu and Nicolette Sheridan along with them – that’s why you’ll need a barf bag. Filmmakers should have expanded Niecy’s time on screen!

What Cedric does best is show that he was having fun with the role and in making the movie. He flows from one scene to the next and you never hack up the emotion that you don’t want to see him in any more scenes, which is more than you can say for, especially, Liu.
The stereotypes start early with “Code Name: The Cleaner” as Cedric wakes up in a hotel bedroom next to a dead FBI agent. A bunch of silly, stupid plot twists let you find out that his amnesia is going to cause a bunch of people fits; that basically he’s a janitor (or his he?); that Liu is a waitress (or is she?); and that Cedric is at the top of everyone’s list.

“Code Name: The Cleaner” has a somewhat creative premise that is not done well at all; most of the acting is wooden and uninspired; and the best thing you can say about production is that at least the exteriors was filmed in Seattle and not in Southern California.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and watch “Code Name: The Cleaner.” It is available on several subscription platforms and can be rented on other streaming services. Don’t worry, despite its stinkiness, you’ll thank me later for “Code Name: The Cleaner.”
