Each Aug. 19 is either world or national Photography Day and I don’t care which you choose to accept! Photography has been a personal passion of mine since I was in high school many decades ago. Although never a “professional,” I did take and have published photographs for stories during my career as a newspaper journalist (we were “multimedia” even back-in-the-day). I’ve taken photos underwater with a Nikon Nikonos camera while scuba diving. Today, I usually use my iPhone, but here is my collection of cameras including a 1970s-era Canon AE-1 SLR body (no lens); a Nikon D3200 DSLR body (no lens); a Nikon Coolpix (internal lens); and a Sony Cyber-shot (internal lens). Also, you see my current go-to camera: a Nikon D5200 DSLR with an 18-200mm lens. I’m repurposing a photo I took of my cameras in June 2026 for national Camera Day and it was taken at our home here in Naples, Fla.
