In April (2026), I though I’d posted my last example of the complete incompetence of closed captioning created by even more ignorant speech recognition and artificial intelligence. After all, the stupidity crawls past with every video on screen. The last post was about a presentation that spelled the Immokalee community name from near our home here in Southwest Florida as “Imicali.” I thought it could go no lower. Well, today (Wednesday, May 12, 2026) closed captioning on a YouTube video proves again there’s no depth of incompetence it cannot plunge: A baby that weighs 7 pounds has the “pounds” expressed as the British unit of currency — £. Holy crap, as “Frank Barone” used to say on the tee-vee sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Ignorance, incompetence and stupidity know no boundary. I took this photo off our tee-vee this morning at our home here in Naples, Fla.
