Well, today’s a first for the idiot calendar maker: The same event touted on different days – and BOTH are wrong. The May 16, 2018, entry says that the Cincinnati Reds (originally the Red Stockings) played their “first game” on that date in 1869. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. The first game was actually an exhibition in April 1869 as a warm-up to the recognized first game as described on Major League Baseball’s website: “… played baseball’s first pro game on May 4, 1869, against the amateur Great Westerns of Cincinnati — a game the Red Stockings won, 45-9.” This is the second time the idiots who put this calendar together got the wrong date for the Reds’ first game.
